Handmade Nation screening in Austin

This year's Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5th and 6th, will be extra special for Austin's handmade network, as Faythe Levine herself will be visiting in conjunction with a screening of her documentary Handmade Nation.

HANDMADE NATION documents the movement of artists, crafters and designers that recognize a marriage between historical techniques, punk and DIY (do it yourself) ethos while being influenced by traditional handiwork, modern aesthetics, politics, feminism and art. Fueled by the common thread of creating, the film explores a burgeoning art community that is based on creativity, determination and networking

In addition to two screenings of the film at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar, there will be Q & A after each screening as well as a mini craft bazaar complete with demos and giveaways, a book signing event at Domy Books the night before, and a post-screening party at Austin Handmade!
